The work was acquired for the FMCMP Art Collection through the Balia Foundation during the charity auction organised in the Thyssen Museum in Madrid in 2015. It is part of the series titled The Silence of Sicily, where this Madrilenian photographer has tried to show a lost city hidden in the mountains of Sicily after the many earthquakes of the twentieth century. The poetry of this image should be taken not only as a denouncement or testimony, but also as light, the evocative symbol of a past that lingers in the memory. The silence of a humble architecture that is still standing but shows the fear, abandonment and sadness of the tragedies suffered by contemporary societies.
