Author: Ángela de la Cruz (A Coruña, 1965)
Tittle: Loose Fit (White/Off White)
Year: 2002–2019

Size: 134 x 124 x 45 cm

This monochromatic white work belongs to the group of Commodity Paintings, and more specifically to the Loose Fit series. Developed between 1999 and 2008, this series is comprised of a set of paintings which when hung on the wall present the canvas loose and wrinkled, with considerable volume, as if it were a sculptural piece or object. In it, the folds of the canvas itself evoke folds of skin hanging loose after a crash diet or giving birth. A certain sense of violence, associated with the drastic change in this case, and especially with the human body, are the keys to her work.

This piece was acquired by the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson at the Galería Carreras Múgica stand at the 2020 ARCO fair.
