This piece, acquired by the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson at the Espacio Líquido gallery stand at the 2020 JUST MAD fair, is part of the Species series, made up of ten works with the same features that were displayed to the public in Inmersión (Immersion) (Centro Puertas de Castilla, Murcia, 2019) and Fenómenos (Phenomena) (Sala Atín in Seville, 2019–2020). In it, we can see a laser-engraved female figure in a glass parallelepiped.

The figure is defined by the threads or rays conducting energy, which simulate the nervous or lymphatic system or the blood vessels. With it, Marina Núñez constructs a female image associated with terror and science fiction, which she “encloses” in a glass case (the glass parallelepiped), turning it into a museum-worthy object which could be displayed in a Baroque “chamber of wonders”, a cabinet filled with eccentricities from nature such as the one alluded to in her exhibition in Murcia. Nonetheless, its sense as an invented woman, a cyborg, is joined by a profound bond with nature, since it is also known as a “woman-tree”, a contemporary Daphne whose feet emanate rays which branch out like roots, anchoring the figure to its base and making it the nucleus generating existence, in perpetual transformation.
