Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson presents Masaveu Collections. Textile Art, an exhibition bringing together a carefully selected group of nearly eighty textile works dating from the fifteenth century to the present day. The selection reflects more than a century of collecting and two centuries of the Masaveu family’s involvement with textiles. It will be on view at the FMCMP Madrid Centre from 7 October 2026 to 18 July 2027.

Co-curated by Antonio Sama García, curator at the Royal Tapestry Factory and Associate Professor in the Department of Art History at the Complutense University of Madrid, and Patricia Molins de la Fuente, art historian and curator, the exhibition is organised into two main sections devoted respectively to the historic and contemporary holdings. Historic rugs, embroideries and tapestries are presented alongside works by artists including Magdalena Abakanowicz, Sheila Hicks, Maria Lai, Joan Miró, Aurèlia Muñoz, Teresa Lanceta, Sonia Navarro, Paula Rego, Josep Grau-Garriga, Le Corbusier, Sonia Delaunay, Olga de Amaral and Anni Albers, among others.

This significant body of historic textiles and contemporary textile art constitutes one of the lesser-known holdings within the Masaveu collections. The exhibition brings together works from the Masaveu Collection, owned by Corporación Masaveu, the Foundation’s art collection (FMCMP Collection), and the personal collection of its president, Fernando Masaveu. Through this project, the Foundation continues its work to preserve, restore, study and promote textile art, while highlighting the important role it has played both in the history of the Masaveu family and in its longstanding collecting activity.
