In the well-known piece by the Wilson Sisters, the psychological framework (also widely present in their films) alternates with the mysterious landscapes such as this beautiful sunrise within the poetic silence of a forest. The María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation acquired the work at the 2014 International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO) in Madrid for its contemporary photography collection. Her work has been exhibited in several galleries and art centres in recent years.

Usually focusing on historical memory, the work of the Wilson twins tends to recover empty places, uncontrolled evacuated areas, or missing spaces such as that in question, which leads several psychological narratives. An exploration of claustrophobia fully emerges here with a seemingly romantic composition, penetrating our vision through Freudian symbolism which turns us back to our intimate fears with this silence emerging from behind, lifting the spirit towards disturbing dimensions, despite the image’s incomparable beauty.
