The María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation has been awarded with the recognition of the Foro Jovellanos Foundation for its contribution to the understanding and dissemination of the life and work of the illustrious Baltasar Melchor Gaspar María de Jovellanos, a major figure of the Age of Enlightenment in Spain, for the projects and activities undertaken in 2011 in honour of the Bicentenary of his death (1811-2011).

On 27 July 2012, Jesús Menéndez Peláez, President of the Foro Jovellanos Foundation of the Principality of Asturias, and Fernando Adaro de Jove, the Institution’s Vice President, presented the President of the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation, Fernando Masaveu, with a replica of the statue of Jovellanos, work of the sculptor Manuel Fuxá.
