Creating with textiles
Families with children aged 4 to 7 (recommended age)

By exploring some of the works in the exhibition, families will discover the creative possibilities of textile art and learn about the different techniques, materials, colours and textures artists have used throughout history. From historic tapestries to contemporary textile art, participants will discover how threads and fabrics can become artistic materials in their own right.

Through an interactive tour and a creative workshop, participants will explore different ways of using fabrics and other textile materials as a means of artistic expression. Through play, observation and experimentation, they will explore colour, form and texture to create their own textile composition.

By exploring some of the works in the exhibition, families will discover the creative possibilities of textile art and learn about the different techniques, materials, colours and textures artists have used throughout history. From historic tapestries to contemporary textile art, participants will discover how threads and fabrics can become artistic materials in their own right.

Through an interactive tour and a creative workshop, participants will explore weaving as a form of artistic expression. Inspired by the work of artists such as Sheila Hicks and Teresa Lanceta, they will experiment with different techniques to create their own piece of textile art.
