ROCKNCROLLA

TECHNICAL DATA

Author:  Smack & Juan Díaz-Faes (Oviedo, 1982)
Title: RocknRolla
Year: 2020
Tecnique: resin and acrylic paint
Size: 32 x 51 x 17 cm

Made of resin, the piece is based on a design by SMACK (Dutch group made up of Ton Meijdam, Thom Snels and Bélaz Zsigmond), which has been decorated by different artists, such as Sergio Mora and, in this case, by Oviedo-born Juan Díaz-Faes, at the request of the Solo Collection, in whose gallery it was acquired during the celebration of the Urbanity 2021 fair.

RocknRolla is a seductive snake -symbol of the original sin- with a wide mouth and bright red lips, shiny white teeth and a prominent and eager tongue, whose image inevitably takes us to the Rolling Stones logo, designed in 1971 by John Pasche. It first appeared in SMACK’s SPECULUM digital triptych, itself inspired by Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights. In the case of this copy, it has been intervened by Díaz-Faes with his characteristic yellow and black patterns.
