Resonante I

TECHNICAL DATA

Author: Mar Solís (Madrid, 1967)
Title: Resonante I (Resonant I)
Year: 2018
Technique: linden wood
Size: 150 x 220 x 25 cm

This piece, which his carved of linden wood, conveys a sense of lightness which comes from its slender, delicate construction, a constant feature of this artist’s works. It is part of the Resonant series and is articulated around three intertwined spiral shapes, just like the other works in this series. The essential factor in the conception of these pieces is the line and its multiple variations, the aforementioned spiral rotation and the concentration around a nucleus, as well as the concept of time, since each sculpture poses a specific variation that takes place at a given moment in time. Line, rhythm, the spatial dimension of the pieces and the very qualities of the materials are other essential factors which yield this appealing artistic result.

Resonant I was acquired during “Introspection and Flight”, an individual exhibition by the artist at Madrid’s Puxa Gallery between 31 January and 30 March 2019.
