Pinto, Túlio

(Brasilia, Brasil, 1974)

Túlio Pinto was trained in sculpture at the Federal University of Río Grande do Sul. He has furthered his training abroad in many countries, including Ukraine, Canada, Portugal, the USA, United Kingdom and Holland.

Since 2009, his output, primarily sculptures and installations, has been based on the contrast of opposites; on the use of materials from nature and opposing behaviours, such as cement, iron, rock, glass, plastic and ice; and on the tensions in and challenges to the laws of physics, especially the law of gravity, generated by combining these materials. With the subtle balance of his compositions, Túlio seeks to capture a metaphor of the existence of beings, their transformation and their impermanence.
