This sculpture of the popular videogame character Mario from Mario Bros was made by Laurence Vallières in Montreal in 2019 and appeared at the District 13 Art Fair in Paris in September of that same year via the Swinton Gallery. As is common in her works, it is made of a wooden skeleton clad with recycled cardboard which is painted and then varnished. The light-hearted nature of the piece contrasts with the anti-consumer and environmental critique which is a hallmark of her work.

The artist has continued working on the characters from this videogame in Germany in February 2020. This figure of Mario was acquired by the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson at the stand of the Swinton Gallery during the URVANITY 2020 fair.
