This work was acquired by the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation during the 2013 International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO) in Madrid, and is part of the “Águas Livres” project. The work was also part of the artist’s exhibition in his gallery in Gijón a few months later.

Beyond photography understood as the mere study of light and form, Baraja offers a representation of architecture as a personal and subjective vision that seeks to avoid conventionality. Here he achieves this from a single analysis of a Lisbon landmark built by the architect Nuno Teotonio Pereira, avoiding anecdotes at all times from to claim photography as an autonomous, experimental medium that is able to maintain that neo-pictorial spirit he seems to defend. The poetics of silence, to interpret the realities of our time.
