At the 2012 International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO) in Madrid, Óscar Muñoz was one of the most highly praised artists by critics. At the meeting of collectors and experts held by the Arco Foundation, his video projection “Editor solitario” (“Lone Editor”) was chosen as the best piece of the event. The María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation acquired this triptych for its contemporary art collection, a piece that belongs to the “Impresiones débiles” (“Weak Prints”) where the Colombian artist explores art’s ability to reflect on the memory of the individual and the need for collective memories as a commitment of our society.

Over the last decade, Óscar Muñoz, one of the most renowned artists of his country, has experienced the possibilities of drawing on different media, which is expressed here using carbon dust on digital prints. Images that are difficult to reproduce, so white that they seem invisible, based on incidents involving the liberal guerrillas from El Llano, which are familiar images for Colombian society from school history books. A composition that deals with perspectives and tries to find new meanings in contemporary images.
