Slogans and phrases enhance the images with which El Rey de la Ruina is working or, conversely, cast irony on their meaning. His colourful work brimming with geometric patterns in bright colours with stark contrasts capture the eyes, and later the shapes and messages hit us hard. In this work, the artist depicts the flight of a bird over an abstract landscape. The bird is gliding over meadows, hills and crop fields that become its trail, which is diluted and merged into a new abstract landscape. These combinations are undone, generating rhythms and new patterns, cacophonies, silences for the eyes and new harmonies in a graphic pentagram which accompanies the representation. Even though the artist does not use text in this painting, with the title Only Leaping from the Past… he hints at a story in which the flight of the bird and the geometric trails represent a temporal fluid.

The artist explores different contradictions which are also found in his other creations: the opposition between the figurative and the abstract, the geometric and the informal, and a graphic language and a gestural and informal language bring a great deal of dynamism to this painting. The use of tools like combinations of complementary colours, the decomposition of geometric schemes, computer glitches and visual rhythms help create a piece that is as vibrant and hypnotic as this one.
