Title: Balance
Year: 2019
Technique: acrylic enamel lacquered on fibreglass
Size: 350 x 170 x 150 cm

This work was created for the URVANITY Contemporary Art Fair (Madrid, 18 February to 4 March 2019), when it was exhibited in Plaza de Callao (Madrid). It was purchased by the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson from the Swinton Gallery at this fair.

The piece, which is 3.5 metres tall, depicts a black cat balancing on a green ball whose bottom is beginning to deflate. It is an allusion to the instability and fragility of nature in view of human behaviour, which is endangering the ecosystem. The design is based on a sketch on paper which was later shaped three-dimensionally and finally produced by ARTEFIBRA in painted and varnished fibreglass.
