The Bancaja Foundation is hosting an anthological exhibition at its headquarters in Valencia devoted to Antonio López, which also features a section in tribute to María Moreno (Madrid, 1933–2020), the artist’s wife who recently passed away. This is the fifth López retrospective after the ones held in Spain (MNCARS, 1993; Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, 2011), the United States (Museum of Fine Arts of Boston, 2008) and Japan (Bunkamura Museum of Tokyo, 2012), and it includes an extensive selection of paintings, sculptures and drawings made by the creator between the 1950s and today.

Comprised of almost 100 works from around 30 collections, the exhibition inquires into Antonio López’s complex creative process, which has enabled him to define and consolidate an extraordinarily rigorous and original realistic poetics. It also includes some of the most important paintings and sculptures on which he is currently working.

In addition to the work from the Masaveu Collection, the show also includes Quince Tree, which was recently acquired by the President of the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson, Fernando Masaveu Herrero.
