ACQUISITION OF A COLLECTOR’S BIBLIOGRAPHIC FUND TO LOAN TO THE UNIVERSITY OF OVIEDO

In 2007 the Foundation acquired the valuable collection of antique books owned by Dr. Guy Mercadier, renowned historian, prominent Professor and Professor Emeritus at the University of Provence. In its request, the Feijoo University Institute for 18th Century Studies of the University of Oviedo, based on its extensive expert knowledge, declared its great interest for incorporating the valuable fund to its prestigious library for research, training and educational purposes.

The bibliographic fund has 84 valuable 18th Century Spanish books, some of which are particularly unique, such as the first edition of Diego de Torres Villarroel, of which there are only two other copies in Spain.

Since its acquisition, the collection has been on loan to the University of Oviedo’s prestigious scientific centre, and it is fully available for consultation, study and research:
