TECHNICAL DATA

Author: Hendrick Czakainski (Aurich, Germany, 1979)
Title: 26.390
Year: 2018
Technique: MDF, cardboard and paint
Size: 256 x 150 cm

This vertical piece is one of Czakainski’s characteristic aerial views of the phantasmagorical slums of a city which are partly destroyed in some areas. In this case, the destruction is concentrated on the upper right and lower left corners, two focal points of devastation which contrast with the apparent orderliness of the rest of the composition. The work is made up of different materials glued to a wooden support, predominantly cardboard, which he then paints, sometimes with bright touches of colour, red or green, which give the structure liveliness and suffuse with it a tinge of hope.

It was purchased by the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson at the Urban Spree GmbH gallery stand at the 2019 Urvanity fair in Madrid.
