Albert Pinya lives and works in Palma de Mallorca, where he was born in 1985. At the age of 17 he discovers his artistic vocation during the two years he spends as a boarder in a school of priests in Paterna (Valencia). In 2007 he received the First Prize in the Artjove. Illes Balears and is selected by the curator Achille Bonito Oliva to be part of the exhibition “No va més. The game’s on” at the Vostell-Malpartida Museum (Cáceres). A year later, he began his international career, especially in Italy. In fact, it is in this country where he exhibits for the first time in a museum in 2017: at the MAC-Museum of Contemporary Art of Lissone (Italy). Since 2018 he has been working in collaboration with the ceramist Joan Pere Català-Roig (Palma de Mallorca, 1973). He has received several awards such as the Medal of Honor BMW Award (Madrid, 2016) and the AECA Arco Madrid 2014 Award from the Spanish Association of Critics (Madrid, 2014).

His simple, energetic and dynamic language is characterized by the multiplicity of techniques, the use of a naive and biting language and the proliferation of characters and colors. His source of inspiration is found in the world around him, but he starts mainly from movies, TV series and cartoons until he achieves an identifiable, pop and naive style, based on popular culture, comics and illustration. He conceives art as a communicative expression, always based on an ideology, and is particularly interested in the observation of human beings and the relationships they establish with each other, with society and with the environment.
