Túmulo I

Author: Mario Espliego (Guadalajara, 1983)
Title: Túmulo I (Mound I)
Year: 2018
Technique: steel sheeting and enamel
Size: 90 x 130 cm

As the artist himself has said, the works in the Mound series, made in 2018, refer to the forms developed by Hans Arp after World War I. Reused later to make military patterns, they allow Espliego to examine the duality between the decorative-ornamental and the historical-political-violent, just as he does in other works.

This piece was acquired at the stand of the Asturian gallery Guillermina Caicoya at the Just Mad fair in 2019.
