This was one of the most commented works of those presented by the Asturian artists participating in the International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO) in Madrid, where it was acquired by the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation for its contemporary photography collection. The work was displayed in the Espacio Líquido gallery in Gijon, and is part of the series that Rebeca Menéndez dedicated to interiors with female figures, conveying a great sense of scenography.

The photographic fictions by Rebeca Menéndez – similarly to her pictorial works – offer many things, but above all, they force us to think and look for answers to the questions posed by each piece, regardless of the technique used. They feature seemingly tender childhood memories which, nonetheless, have dramas and mysteries. They follow an obsessive interest in telling stories, showing and hiding, altering our gaze, and pursuing new horizons with more interesting goals than those set by everyday life. Between space and time flow the memory games, recreating legends or developing socio-cultural problems amid the finer details of the composition. Nothing is what it seems, but everything is troubling. The characters play, experiment, appear, explore, but can fall into numerous traps. Death is present, but there is also a hymn to life, always fragile and vulnerable.
