Fundación Ópera de Oviedo officially announced the programme of its 79th opera season, which will be offered at Teatro Campoamor in 2026/2027, this morning at the María Cristina Masaveu Auditorium in the FMCMP Madrid Centre. The new cycle ratifies this institution’s commitment to artistic excellence and the promotion of opera with a lineup featuring some of the most renowned titles in the operatic repertoire.

The season will kick off in September with Sorrow, a double programme combining Kindertotenlieder by Gustav Mahler and Suor Angelica by Giacomo Puccini, and continue with such iconic operas as Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda, Verdi’s Macbeth, Puccini’s Manon Lescaut and, finally, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, which will bring the season to a brilliant close in January and February. 

Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson is a patron of Fundación Ópera de Oviedo, an organisation that works to develop and promote operatic activities in Asturias and sees each new opera season as an opportunity to reach more people and build a more generous, open-minded, free society.

Fundación Ópera de Oviedo is a non-profit organisation established in 1995 whose founding purpose is to promote, organise, support, aid and fund, to be best of its abilities, the Oviedo opera season or festival. It also altruistically supports the promotion, advancement and dissemination of the performing arts in general, and opera, dance and ballet in particular.
