MARÍA CRISTINA MASAVEU PETERSON FOUNDATION SPONSORSHIP PROJECT

MIRADAS DE ASTURIAS (VISIONS OF ASTURIAS). With the utmost respect for the creative freedom of the photographer, the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation has launched the second edition of Visions of Asturias, a long-standing initiative to promote, through sponsorship, the creation of an unpublished work inspired by Asturias and its people, based on the vision of prestigious guest photographers.

José Manuel Ballester (Madrid, 1960) is a painter and photographer, whose extensive professional career is endorsed by several international prizes and exhibitions. He has taken more than five thousand snapshots throughout Asturias between 2010 and 2013, illuminating (allumando, in Asturian) all of its corners. The forty pieces selected for this exhibition reveal inhospitable, active, isolated or unfinished places which bear witness to extremely intimate poetics.
