This work is part of an ambitious project entitled “Where to Sleep”, which Eugenio Ampudia began in 2008, consisting of actions, photographs and single-channel projections in different formats. It was acquired by the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation during the 2013 International Contemporary Art Fair (ARCO) in Madrid and precisely reflects one of the chapters of the work in progress of this Valladolid artist, who captured this image and shot the corresponding film, spending a night in the empty pavilions of Ifema, in Madrid, where this fair would later take place.

The series of works entitled “Where to Sleep” were created as of 2008 and originate from seemingly banal minimal gestures, which contain the artist’ political stance and his attitude of resistance towards conventionalism. The Prado Museum in Madrid, or the Gardens of the Alhambra in Granada, have been other tour stops posed by Ampudia, proposing a reformulation of our habitation under an attitude that, in its simplicity and repetition, looks back at how the individual relates to the public space. This is reflected by a reference to the art market, in a context exclusively dedicated to the latest trends that questions the system and offers new exchanges of experiences.
