This volume, carried out under the scientific direction of Professor Esther Borrego and Professor José Manuel Losada, includes a part of the studies presented originally as papers or communications in the International Congress organized by the Faculty of Philology of the Complutense University from 20 to 23 October 2015 on the occasion of the fifth centenary of the birth of Santa Teresa, the most universal of our writers. The title of the meeting – “And so high life I hope”. Santa Teresa or the permanent flame. From 1515 to 2015 he suggested concepts such as “survival”, “permanence” or “projection”, no doubt fueled by that spiritual fire that emanated from the life and writings of the Blessed Mother.

The meeting, of high academic level, has led to this collective publication that aspires to be a reference, not to stick to the only field of Hispanic literature, but extends to the various literatures and cultures that had been enriched by the Teresian legacy .

This volume, which gathers a selection of the papers of the Congress, includes the publication of a part of the critical studies on the writings of the Saint, articles related to the Teresian projection in Europe and the works focused on reception in Spain, both In Carmelite spheres as in contemporary Spanish literature, together with a section of “miscellany” such as didactics, dissemination and neuroscience.

This publication, in which we find articles of seventeen specialists in Santa Teresa de Jesus both nationally and internationally, is accompanied by a selection of more than thirty images related to the Santa, many of them from the Masaveu Collection.
