TRAINING PROGRAM “MASTER OF ARTS” AT THE ROYAL ACADEMY OF MUSIC OF LONDON (2012-13 / 2013-14)

Musical training Scholarship for Master studies at the Royal Academy of Music of London.

Training programme: MASTER OF ARTS in performance
Instrumental specialist field: Cello
Scholarship holder: Ana Laura Iglesias Lago

Ana Laura Iglesias Lago was born in Avilés in 1987. She started her cello studies with teacher Katallin Illés at the “Julián Orbón” Public Professional Conservatoire of Avilés. Later, she moved to Madrid to study the Higher Degree of Cello at the Royal Higher Conservatoire of Madrid with teacher Iagoba Fanlo, where, in June 2012, she obtained the Higher Degree in Music with the highest marks. This year, 2012, she has been admitted at the Royal Academy of Music of London to study the Master of Arts’ degree in cello performance with teacher Mr. David Strange. She has assumed these studies as a scholarship holder of the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation.

“The full development and refinement to the limit of one’s own personal abilities is, in the artistic field in general, and in the musical profession in particular, a permanent obligation and an unavoidable demand, even more in the specially competitive and globalised musical field. Therefore, the extension of training beyond the degree is more a necessity than an option for the access to the professional activity of a musician.

In this training journey, I have chosen as my next stage the Royal Academy of Music of London, one of the European musical centres with a better educative project and which also has a musical and cultural offer of superb high-quality. The Master of Arts in Performance given at the Royal Academy is an ambitious training programme focused on the preparation of the musician for the world of work. The syllabus of the Master is structured around two main objectives, the definition and management of the professional profile and the consolidation of the musician’s musical and artistic abilities.

This is, therefore, an ambitious educative project, whose training action is increased thanks to the incomparable cultural and musical framework offered by the city of London. For me, taking part in this project will undoubtedly be an excellent opportunity of both artistic and professional development thanks to the whole patronage of the María Cristina Masaveu Peterson Foundation.”
