PATRONAGE PROJECT
INTERPRETATION PLAN FOR THE MUSEO DEL REAL SITIO DE COVADONGA

MUSEO DEL REAL SITIO DE COVADONGA
2025

The Museo Real Sitio de Covadonga has presented its new interpretation plan for the museum, the primary aim of which is to establish effective and meaningful communication between visitors and the rich historical and artistic heritage on display. Developed under the patronage of the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson (FMCMP), the initiative represents the last milestone in a long journey that has contributed to the modernisation and revitalisation of this fascinating Asturian cultural site.

The plan offers visitors a range of technological and educational tools to learn more about this important heritage and enhance their experience of the museum.

From now on, visitors will be able to access new multimedia guides through QR codes located at different points of the itinerary. This content is available in audio and text format in Spanish, English and French. In addition, a special multimedia guide for children will provide young visitors with an interactive and stimulating learning experience.

The plan also includes an outreach programme for families and schools, with information sheets in several languages and educational activities related to Asturian monarchs, liturgical vestments and Our Lady of Covadonga, popularly known as La Santina. As part of the museographic renovation, the exhibit labels have been updated to include more details and digital resources in the seven rooms.

To ensure the quality of project, the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson once again enlisted the support of Professor Vidal de la Madrid, an expert on the history of Covadonga, who assumed the role of content director.
