This year Open House Madrid, now in its eleventh edition, involves the participation of the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson. Open House Madrid celebrates the city’s architecture by opening up a hundred buildings and architecture studios that are usually closed to the public. The programme also includes outdoor routes and other activities.
The Foundation will open its own doors to offer visitors the chance to discover the architecture of its Madrid centre, including spaces that are usually off limits to the public. The FMCMP is housed in a refurbished nineteenth-century mansion that was subsequently converted into a hotel. The refurbishment project (2015–2018) carried out by the architects Rafael Masaveu and Carolina Compostizo was based on maximum respect for the building’s original volumetry and the features with official heritage protection, combined with the use of the finest materials and finishes.
A commitment to the environment is a crucial aspect of the Foundation’s line of work. This is reflected in the Madrid centre’s certification as a sustainable building, having met the stringent requirements to achieve a B energy efficiency rating.
