PREVIEW OF THE FUNDACIÓN MARÍA CRISTINA MASAVEU PETERSON AUTUMN PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES IN MADRID

FMCMP MADRID CENTRE
16 SEPTEMBER, 2025

On 16 September the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson launched its new autumn programme of activities at its Madrid centre. Currently open to visitors are the exhibitions Masaveu Collection. Twentieth-Century Spanish Art: From Picasso to Barceló, now featuring some additional works, and the Street Art Space, which presents a selection of the most cutting-edge artworks from the FMCMP collection.

The Masaveu Collection. Twentieth-Century Spanish Art show, curated by María Dolores Jiménez-Blanco, brings together the most outstanding works of twentieth-century art in the Masaveu collections. In September we added a new painting to the room dedicated to realism: Lilas [Lilac] (1996), by Isabel Quintanilla, recently acquired by the Foundation.

Since the exhibition first opened, the main discourse has been enriched by temporary displays. The third edition of the monograph Works on Paper includes works by Antoni Tàpies, Antonio Saura, Eusebio Sempere and others, while the space dedicated to guest works features a show entitled Postwar Landscapes with works by Caneja, Zabaleta and Palencia.

To mark the beginning of the season, the Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson has renewed the Street Art Space exhibition with recent acquisitions by authors such as Ai Weiwei, Okuda San Miguel, Edgar Plans, Marria Pratts, Javier Calleja, Luis Pérez Calvo, Albert Pinya and Iván Montaña, along with internationally acclaimed figures like Banksy, Keith Haring, Vhils, Morton-Clark, Yayoi Kusama and Kaï, celebrating the diversity of disciplines and formats that characterise this art movement.

Completing the activities as we head into autumn is a new selection of guided tours and workshops for all audiences, including an interactive tour entitled Women artists and the representation of women in twentieth-century Spanish art and an expanded schools programme on the themes of twentieth-century Spanish art and street art
