LECTURE
THE GREAT BAROQUE CENTURY
IGNACIO CANO RIVERO

MARÍA CRISTINA MASAVEU AUDITORIUM
04 JUNE, 2024
6.30 PM

Fifth and final lecture in the series on the exhibition The Collection of the Museu de Belles Arts, Valencia: Between Bosch and Sorolla at the FMCMP Madrid Centre.

The Baroque represents a fascinating artistic manifestation as well as a complex period of history. As one of its crowning achievements, it gave rise to what has come to be known as the Golden Age of Spanish painting. The Baroque did not only usher in a new way of conceiving and perceiving reality but, above all, of representing and conveying it.

Ignacio Cano Rivero, director of the Museo de Bellas Artes, Seville, analyses this new approach to art in relation to the communication between work and viewer, the connection and emotion of the observer, through masterpieces of the Spanish Baroque.

All lectures take place at 6.30 pm in the María Cristina Masaveu Auditorium.

IMPORTANT: Free admission on a first come, first served basis. Advance ticket bookings: reservas@fmcmp.com Tickets (one per person) can also be collected at the Foundation’s ticket office from one hour before the start of the lecture. For any incident, please contact infomadrid@fmcmp.com
